MERCI - CR

 The Climate Risk Assessment Methodology for Infrastructure (MERCI in Spanish) allows analyzing the vulnerability of infrastructure, both public and private, to the impacts of climate change and climate variability, so that adaptation measures can be proposed based on the results of its application. This methodology favors the generation of resilience in communities and informed decision-making processes based on technical criteria. MERCI was developed and validated in Costa Rica considering different international methodologies, especially the protocol of the Public Infrastructure Engineering Vulnerability Committee of Engineers of Canada (PIEVC). This methodology was part of the products of the Climate Services Improvement for Infrastructure Investments (CSI) Project, which is part of the International Climate Protection Initiative (IKI). The objective of the CSI project is that decision-makers increasingly use climate services in the planning of infrastructure investments and thus contribute to increasing their resilience.
