Aviso Meteorológico
Condiciones ventosas persisten este inicio de semana

10.30 a.m.
Diagnosis: High levels of atmospheric pressure north of the Caribbean Sea basin favor windy conditions in the national territory. This Monday, maximum gusts between 60 km/h and 87 km/h were recorded in northern Guanacaste. In the Central Valley and the plains of the North Pacific, between 40 km/h and 73 km/h. Mostly stable conditions are present in the national territory, with no significant rain in the last 12 hours.
Forecast: Atmospheric pressure will remain high this Monday and Tuesday, which favors the occurrence of strong to very strong gusts towards the mountains, in the center and in the north of the national territory. In low areas of the Central Valley and North Pacific, gusts between 30 km/h and 60 km/h are expected, while in northern Guanacaste and the mountains, gusts between 60 km/h and 100 km/h are expected (without ruling out occasional slightly higher gusts in these areas).
On the other hand, this Monday the conditions are mostly stable in the country. However, it is possible that the incursion of cloudiness towards the south of the South Pacific in the afternoon will generate scattered showers with thunderstorms, with accumulations close to 50 mm in periods of 3 to 6 hours.
Warning: Special attention in mountains and in surrounding low areas, due to the presence of strong to very strong gusts.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
• Prevention due to gusts of wind and their possible affectation of roofs, electrical wiring, signs, trees; as well as in the mountainous parts of the country and Guanacaste (national parks, volcanoes).
• Caution in air navigation due to increased turbulence, as well as in maritime navigation due to increased rough seas, especially in the North Pacific, Gulf of Nicoya and northern Central Pacific.
• Avoid fires of all kinds, since they can get out of control. • Caution due to sewer saturation in places prone to this type of flooding, as well as increased flow in rivers and streams.
