Diagnosis: The high humidity content in the country's surroundings, coupled with the morning warming and the proximity of the Intertropical Convergence Zone will generate isolated but strong showers this afternoon in the central and northern sectors of the national territory.

Forecast: During the morning, there will be rain and isolated showers in the North Caribbean and south of the Nicoya Peninsula.

This afternoon, isolated showers with thunderstorms of strong intensity are expected in the surroundings of the Nicoya Peninsula, the Tempisque sector, mountain ranges in the North Pacific, the mountainous North Zone and the west of the Central Valley, estimated amounts between 20 - 50 mm with possible localized maximum amounts of 60 - 70 mm. Towards the Central Pacific, South Pacific, scattered rain and showers with thunderstorms are expected, estimated maximum amounts between 20 - 40 mm, possible larger amounts of up to 50 mm. In the mountains of the Caribbean and surrounding low-lying areas, scattered showers with thunderstorms with amounts between 5-30 mm are possible. During the night, a gradual decrease in precipitation is expected; however, it may persist on the Pacific coasts (especially around the Gulf of Nicoya).

Warning: Saturated soils are present in the Northern Zone, South Pacific, Nicoya Peninsula and the northern and southern ends of the Caribbean. Therefore, these are vulnerable areas. Likewise, the rains expected in urban areas may cause congestion in the sewer system and flash flooding.
