Aviso Meteorológico
Condiciones ventosas en el centro y norte del país
23 de marzo de 2020
11:50 am
Diagnosis: High values ??of atmospheric pressure over the Caribbean Sea cause strong winds in the central and northern regions of the national territory. The maximum gusts reach between 70-90 km / h in the Guanacaste area -the most intense in the northern part- and between 40-60 km / h in the Central Valley.
Forecast: During the rest of this day the windy conditions will persist. The maximum gusts are estimated between 50-65 km / h for the Central Valley and lower parts of Guanacaste and between 70-100 km / h for northern Guanacaste and mountainous areas.
As for rainfall, occasional drizzles are possible in mountainous sectors of the country with accumulated between 1-10 mm.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
Take precautions for strong winds and their possible damage to roofs, electrical wiring, signs, trees; as well as in the mountainous parts of the country (national parks, volcanoes).
Caution for boats by rough sea and very strong waves in the North Pacific, Gulf of Nicoya, the Caribbean Sea, as well as air navigation due to turbulence over the mountainous sectors.
Avoid burning of all kinds as they can get out of control.
