Informative Meteorological Warning

Tropical wave # 33 and its development potential in a tropical cyclone

August 31, 2020

Discussion: Tropical wave # 33 continues to advance over the Caribbean Sea, north of Venezuela. According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), there is a high development potential in a tropical depression of 70% in the next 48 hours and 80% in 5 days.

Forecast: The latest analyzes indicate that this disturbance will move westward, closer to Costa Rica is estimated around Wednesday, September 2. Due to its possible position and strengthening, there is a probability of indirect influence towards our country; generating a reinforcement of rainy activity.

The IMN will keep strict monitoring of the evolution of this system and will inform in a timely manner of any variation of the system and its possible influence on the country.
