Informative Meteorological Warning

Disturbance in the Caribbean Sea and its potential in a tropical cyclone

Oct 29, 2020
10.40 am

Diagnosis: Tropical wave # 50 is located today Thursday in the eastern Caribbean Sea, between Venezuela and Puerto Rico, it is moving west towards Central America. This wave has a medium-high potential (60%) to intensify to a tropical cyclone in the next 5 days, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC for its acronym in English).

Forecast: According to the latest analyzes, due to its possible trajectory, interaction with other atmospheric systems, its position and strengthening, there is a high probability of indirect influence towards the national territory, favoring a rainy scenario as of this Sunday and the beginning of the week to come, especially in the Central and South Pacific.

The IMN will keep a strict follow-up of the evolution of said disturbance and will inform in a timely manner of any variation of the same and its possible influence on the country.

Therefore, the IMN recommends: • Stay informed through social networks, Twitter: @IMNCR, Facebook: Instituto Meteorológico Nacional CR and the WEB Page: www.imn.ac.cr
