Weather Warning

Tropical Wave #32

August 29, 2020
10.30 am

Diagnosis: Tropical wave # 32 is located at this time in western Panama, and it will be entering the country during the end of this Saturday afternoon. In addition, the Intertropical Convergence Zone is located on the national territory, maintaining instability in the region.

Forecast: The effect of tropical wave # 32 will be perceived only this Saturday in the country. Due to this, the afternoon rainfall in the Pacific and North Zone could be reinforced this Saturday, they are estimated to accumulate between 50-60 mm in periods of 6 hours. In addition, isolated rains and downpours with storm and fog are expected in the Central Valley in the late afternoon and early evening, amounts between 5 to 30 mm; In the case of the Caribbean, isolated rains could be generated in the afternoon and early evening, amounts between 10-25 mm.

Warning: Special attention to the Pacific slope and the North Zone, as well as the Central Valley, due to the saturated soils that these regions present due to the heavy rains this week.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

• Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewerage saturation.
• Take shelter in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
