Weather Warning

Rainy conditions on this Wednesday

January 29, 2020
10.10 a.m.

Discussion: Cloudy conditions and rainfall remain present this morning over the country, especially in the Pacific regions, this situation is a product of the proximity of the Intertropical Convergence Zone, which generates a very unstable and humid atmospheric pattern.

Forecast: In the remainder of the morning, cloudiness will remain between partial and total nationwide. Isolated rains are expected in coastal areas of the Pacific, with amounts between 5-10mm.

In the afternoon and early hours of the night it is expected greater cloud cover and presence of rains and showers with isolated thunderstorms in the Central and South Pacific, as well as in the Nicoya Peninsula, accumulated 30-60 mm, possible higher amounts of form located. In the Central Valley and mountains of the Caribbean and North Zone, rainfall and showers are expected with accumulated between 10-30 mm.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

  • Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation, increased flow in rivers and streams, and in areas prone to landslides.
  • Shelter in a safe place in case of hearing thunderstorms or perceiving strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as precaution for possible fall of tree branches, power lines among others.
  • Caution to drivers due to reduced visibility and wet roads.
