Weather Warning
Rainy conditions on this Monday
October 26, 2020
10.10 a.m.
Discussion: Tropical Storm Zeta is located in the northern Caribbean Sea heading towards the Gulf of Mexico; situation that causes the Intertropical Convergence Zone to be located off the Pacific coast of Central America. The indirect influence that this cyclone maintains is decreasing over the country; however, the transport of moisture from the Pacific Ocean to the national territory continues, favoring cloudiness in coastal areas of Puntarenas and Guanacaste, as well as isolated rainfall.
Forecast: In this afternoon and first hours of the night, rains and downpours with electrical storms are expected in the Pacific, North Zone, Central Valley and mountainous sectors of the Caribbean, they are estimated to accumulate between 30-70 mm and possibly higher amounts locally.
Tropical wave # 48 has entered Panama, its arrival in the national territory is estimated on Tuesday, which can lead to the reinforcement of the rains during that day.
Warning: A high percentage of soil saturation prevails in the Pacific, North Zone and Central Valley due to the rains of the last days, special attention is recommended.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation.
- Take shelter in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
