Influence of the Cold Surge #14 remains this Thursday

Diagnosis: The influence of cold thrust #14 is generating windy conditions in the country. The strongest gusts have been recorded in the north of Guanacaste, which have reached 90 km/h in La Cruz and Guayabo. In addition, in Cañas 65 km/h is recorded, Barva, Alajuela and Pavas between 54-56 km/h, among others. Cloudy conditions also remain in the Caribbean regions and the Northern Zone with intermittent rains of varying intensity. The accumulated maximums are around 30-50 mm in the last 12 hours. Forecast: Windy conditions with strong gusts will continue this Thursday morning in the center and north of the country. As the afternoon progresses, the intensity of the wind is expected to gradually decrease, maintaining occasional moderate gusts. On the other hand, cloudy and rainy conditions are projected to persist in the Caribbean and Northern Zone for most of the day. Accumulated between 20-40 mm are expected in periods of 6 hours with the most important activity concentrating mainly in mountainous sectors. For the rest of the country, no significant rainfall is expected, except for possible isolated showers in the South Pacific in the afternoon. Warning: Special attention due to very strong gusts of wind in the North Pacific and the Central Valley. Special attention also in the mountainous sectors of the Caribbean and Northern Zone due to the saturation of the soils caused by the persistence of rains in recent days. Due to the above, the IMN recommends: Prevention of wind gusts and their possible impact on roofs, electrical wiring, signs, trees; as well as in the mountainous parts of the country and Guanacaste (national parks, volcanoes). Caution in air navigation due to increased turbulence, as well as in maritime navigation due to increased rough seas, especially in the North Pacific, Gulf of Nicoya and northern Central Pacific. Avoid burning of all types, as they can get out of control.
